The customer who commissioned this scart told me he wanted it mostly black with some dark greens, like a forest at night time. Respondng to that I designed a hand-spun yarn from fine merino, silk, and natural black baby alpaca, and my dear wife, a talented handspinner, created it for me. The silk in the weft yarn is natural, undyed white, and makes the fiber glisten a little, like leaves in the moonlight. The baby alpaca makes a very soft yarn even softer to the touch.
The warp threads are 100% wild silk, some of it hand-dyed to a few different shades of green. The green stripes in the warp spell something meaningful to my customer when read as Morse Code.
